Special Education in Ireland’s Secondary Schools

This article is an introduction to special education in secondary schools in Ireland. Recent years have witnessed, and a profound change in the provision of special education in Ireland. The Ministry of Education and Science has issued many directives and guidelines policy, supply, structure and materials. Since 1998 there were pieces of legislation passed by the Dail th concern that, one way or another to children and special educational needs, the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) was established with the Special Education Support Service (SESS). These two organizations oversee and coordinate all of nationwide special education initiatives. Primary schools in Ireland were the pioneers of these new guidelines.
